The traffic light format is exactly what it sounds like: wear green if you’re available, red if you’re not, yellow if you’re somewhere in between, and let the color do the talking for the rest of the night. El Rey’s layout works well for this kind of social event, with enough room to circulate but enough dim corners that the premise doesn’t feel exhausting. Tickets are through Hold My Ticket, and the 10:30 p.m. local start means this one runs well into the early morning.
