Canteen is the oldest Albuquerque brewery still in business, pouring since 1994, when it started as the beer side of Il Vicino pizza in Nob Hill. The patio stage at the Aztec brewhouse carries regular live music from New Mexico and touring players.
About the room
The 6,500-square-foot brewery and taproom opened in 2011 on Aztec Road NE near Candelaria, and the operation traded the Il Vicino Brewing name for Canteen in 2014. Its trophy count includes 13 Great American Beer Festival medals among more than 150 awards by the brewery's own tally.
Before you go
The patio is dog friendly and it is where the bands play, so bring a layer for cool nights. Check canteenbrewhouse.com for hours and the music calendar; a second taproom on Tramway pours the same beer on the east side.
