Casa San Ysidro: The Gutiérrez / Minge House
Albuquerque / THE ROOM
Why this room makes the map
Casa San Ysidro puts you inside a 19th century New Mexico rancho, complete with a family chapel, a central plazuela and a rebuilt corral with a historic barn. The Albuquerque Museum runs it, so the furniture, religious art, textiles and pottery get museum care in a house setting.
About the room
Jesús María Gutiérrez built the original Territorial Greek Revival house in Corrales around 1875. In the early 1950s Alan and Shirley Minge began turning it into a plazuela-style rancho for their collection of New Mexican vernacular art, and they donated the property to the Albuquerque Museum in 1996.
Before you go
Visits are by guided tour, so book ahead through the Casa San Ysidro page on cabq.gov, which also lists the season, admission and free Saturday hours. The house is at 973 Old Church Road, across from the old church in Corrales.
