Sage Valley's showroom on Corrales Road never locks: pick a piece, fill out the form and drop your payment in the honor box, day or night. The studio also teaches two-hour beginner classes on the wheel.
About the room
The 6,000-square-foot building has held a pottery studio since the 1970s and was Hanselmann Pottery until that business closed in December 2023. Head potter James West, who started there in 2013, and studio manager Jessi Penrod reopened it as Sage Valley in April 2024, making speckled off-white and black stoneware built for everyday use and restaurant kitchens.
