The Range Cafe – Bernalillo
Albuquerque / THE ROOM
Why this room makes the map
The original Range Cafe keeps a full bar called the Lizard Rodeo Lounge, with free live music from New Mexico bands and an open mic night. You can eat huevos rancheros here in the morning and come back for a band after dark.
About the room
Tom Fenton and Matt DiGregory opened the first Range in 1992 in a 56-seat former gas station in Bernalillo. It burned in 1995, and they reopened in 1996 at 925 Camino del Pueblo, in a building from around 1905 that once served as the Bernalillo Mercantile warehouse. Local art covers the walls, and the furniture is art too.
Before you go
Expect a line at peak meal times, especially on weekends. It's about 20 minutes north of downtown Albuquerque off I-25; check rangecafe.com for current hours and music nights.
