Why this room makes the map
Winrock was Albuquerque's first shopping mall, and after years as a near-empty indoor ghost it has turned into an Uptown gathering place with a park in the middle. Free Friday night concerts at the Sunward Amphitheater are the reason it shows up on this map.
About the room
Winthrop Rockefeller developed the center and Victor Gruen designed it; it opened in 1961 as an open-air mall and was enclosed in 1975. Goodman Realty Group bought the property in 2007 and has spent the years since rebuilding it as a mixed-use town center around a two-acre park.
Before you go
