Sunn O))) does not play concerts so much as conduct low-frequency rituals, robes and all, at volumes that migrate somewhere between your chest and your spine. El Rey is a good-sized room but the sound bounces off those walls in ways that make the drone land harder than you might expect. Earplugs are not ironic here; they let you stay inside the sound longer without losing a week of hearing afterward.
